Attire and Etiquette on The Golf Course

1. Golf is regarded as a fun game, but played in a dignified manner. Clubs all over the world will insist on formal dress and golf attire. Generally most clubs will insist on "no jeans and no trainers" and will frown upon the T-shirts which are without collars and even upon T-shirts that are not inserted in the trousers! At our club also encourage to be dressed soberly but we have no formalities. We are much more relaxed about these rules. However, we do draw the lines the line somewhere, and in summer times playing without wearing T-shirts is not allowed.

2. Golf shoes with socks are recommended for all golf players. This becomes even more important in winter months wherein the ground becomes a bit soft and wearing shoes without spikes can cause soil compaction, which worsens quality of the grass. During summer months we are okay for non-golf shoes, but during winter we strongly urge regular players to wear proper golf shoes. It is not so much as an element of snobbery but poor for the care of the lawns and the grass.

3. Rain and cold protection. Most golfers are “all weather golfers”. They typically think nothing of snow and rain and will play at the allotted time whatever the conditions. Thunderstorm with lightning is the only time when they will stay indoors otherwise, golfing goes on. Most golfers will brave the elements without complaining seriously.Their slogan is "there is nothing called "bad weather". It is simply you are not dressed appropriately for whatever the weatherwind proofs and rain proofs are important if you want to be an all weather golfer. Golf shoes are helpful as well, as most of our sneakers and even leather shoes will get wet at some point. Golf shoes won't.

4. Spike shoes are not allowed in the clubhouse, as the carpets can get shred in no time. Typically golfers will change their shoes in the car park and then come back for a chat and pint afterwards.
