Middlesex Inter School Competition - Under 12 years

    The event is open to teams of 4 golfers, born on or after 1 st July 1996. The application forms will be signed by the PE teacher and the Principal which will be regarded proof of age.

    All 4 players must be bonafide students of the same school.

    If a school cannot put forth a complete team of 4 members, it can still send a team of 3 members, however, their team will get a "virtual member" whose score will be equal to the average score of the least scores of all the teams. The individual members of the team will qualify for individual prizes, like the other teams.

    For the under 12 group, girls and boys will compete together and a school can have a "mixed" team.

    The school must belong to the boroughs that belong to the Middlesex area.

    More than one team from an school may enter. These teams of three players will be named e.g.; Uxbridge A, and Uxbridge B .

    The competition will be played "off scratch"

    All draw sheets, information & results etc will be communicated via the web site or by e-mail.

    Event Rules for the qualifying round

    1. The qualifying round of golf will be played as per the "flag golf" rules with 36 strokes. The finals will be a proper 9 holes match, "stroke play" format.

    1 a. Every competitor will have 36 strokes to play, starting on the first Tee and completing holes as he/she on the way.

    1.b Each completed hole will earn the player, yardage of the hole.

    1.c The hole which is incomplete (at the end of the 36 strokes) will be given a yardage on the based on a perpendicular dropped on the "Ideal progression line" along the fairway which is pre-deterrmined and will be known to the teams.

    1d. The maximum yardage (1700 in 9 holes) if achieved under 36 strokes, the remaining strokes will be allotted a yardage based to the average yards per stroke that the participant has achieved over 9 holes.

    2. The final score on the team will be the sum of the scores of the 4 members.

    3. In case teams tie for a spot, the sums of the highest and lowest scores will be considered.

    4. If the teams are still tied, the higher of the lowest score will be be given preference.

    5. If there still tied places, other detailed rules will prevail, the last resort being toss of a coin.

    6. Start times will be published on the web site prior to the day of the competition.


    General rules

  • All team entries will only be accepted upon payment of the full team entry fee. However, the names of all three players are not necessarily required at point of entry, as long as a team contact's name is provided and further names are given prior to the day of the event.

  • All teams will bring their own kit and not share golf clubs etc.
  • Caddy's are not allowed
  • The 4 players of each team will be spread over 4 Tee times.
  • If a team or individual withdraws from the event less than 7 days before, the team will forfeit the entire entry fee.

  • Any one player within a team can be substituted/replaced up to the day of the event, on condition that the substituted player fulfills all the entry criteria.

  • In exceptional circumstances, if a winning regional team member is unable to attend the national final he/she may be substituted with an eligible player after agreement with the organisers.

  • Competitors will be expected to follow appropriate golf etiquette at all times.

  • Local rules in terms of hazards and bunkers and GUR will apply.



    Rules and format for the finals of the under 12 tournament:

    1. All of the rules outlined above apply to the finals event.

    2. Of all the participating teams, a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 teams will qualify.

    3. 9 holes of golf will be played by the competing teams

    3. The competition will be on the "stroke play" format.

    4. The total scores of all the team members will be added to decide the winning team.

    5. In case of a tie, the sum of the highest and the lowest scorer will be added to decide on the winner.

    If there is inadequate response from girls/boys teams, the organisers may choose to do a uni-sex competition.

    The school must belong to the boroughs of Ealing, Harrow, Brent

    1. All of the rules outlined above apply to the finals event.

    2. Of all the participating teams, a mininum of 5 and maximum of 10 teams will qualify.

    3. 18 holes of golf will be played by the competing teams. As the golf course is a 9 hole course, the competitors will have to go round twice.

    3. The tees for the "in" 9 holes may or may not be different from the "out" 9 holes

    4. The competition will be on the "stroke play" format, with no consideration of handicap.

    5. The total scores of all the team members will be added to decide the winning team.

    5. In case of a tie, the sum of the highest and the lowest scorer will be added to decide on the winner.



    Individual competition

    The individual prizes will be decided on the basis of the scores of competitors of teams appearing in the finals.

    If an individual has had a good score in the qualifying round but his/her team has not qualified for the finals, they will be given an opportunity to play in the finals as well. The cut-off for this inclusion will be based on the scores in the qualifying round.

    In case of a tie between up to 4 players, a play-off (sudden death) will decide the winner.

    If more than 4 individuals have tied, the 4 to play off will be decided by the scores on the last 9 holes (going back).
